Tierra del Fuego National Park and the End of the World Train
Updated October 28, 2026 · 5 min read
The train is a historical attraction inside a larger landscape, not a substitute for seeing the park. The National Park and End of the World Train tour lasts 5 hours, starts at €44.48 and has 1,195 reviews, the highest review count in Ushuaia’s current selection.
What the train adds
The Southern Fuegian Railway follows part of the route once used by prisoners collecting firewood for Ushuaia’s prison. The tourist journey covers about 7 km through forest, peatland and the Pipo valley, with a stop near Macarena waterfall.
The station is 7 to 8 km from Ushuaia, depending on the source. Check whether the train ticket and park admission are included: similarly titled offers package these differently.
What deserves time in the park
Bahía Lapataia marks the end of National Route 3. Lago Acigami, Ensenada Zaratiegui and the Alakush visitor centre are other useful anchors. A half-day tour selects a few stops; it cannot deliver a long hike and an unhurried train ride together.
Independent visitors can drive on the park roads and use designated parking areas. Regular transfers also leave the centre and serve several stops. If you plan to drive, compare rental cars for Ushuaia only after deciding whether winter road conditions and park opening hours suit your itinerary.
Train or park only?
Choose the train if local history, steam railways or travelling with someone who prefers limited walking matters. Choose a park-only trip if coast, forest and longer trails are the priority. The Tierra del Fuego National Park tour lasts 5–6.5 hours and starts at €44.93.
Park hours change by season, and snow can alter access. Check the National Parks administration before departure. Browse the current combinations on our Tierra del Fuego National Park tours page.
